My son began to show signs of panic, general anxiety, and separation anxiety between ages 9 and 10. Being young and unable to regulate emotions in a healthy way, he started to become even more angry whenever he felt triggered. One major trigger was going to sleep at night. Our normal nighttime routines were suddenly failing to create a feeling of safety and stability like they always used to, but instead were causing him stress, anxiety and anger. Going to school was doing this as well, which is totally abnormal for my high energy, extrovert son. We sought out a good therapist to help him learn coping skills. It helped a little bit by giving him an outlet and someone he trusted to talk him through hard emotions, but it didn't keep him from flying into a rage when triggered by normal life things. We felt like we were all walking on eggshells around him and my heart hurt to watch him struggle so much. There were times when I was genuinely worried for his safety when he would try to break and throw things.
My son started working with Carl a few months after starting therapy. In the second appointment, Carl showed us the results of my son's brain-mapping and I was incredibly shocked when Carl showed us an abnormality which pointed to an old head injury. It was then that I remembered my son hitting his head significantly hard several years ago in the exact spot that Carl was pointing to! He explained that this (among some other things) could be why my son's brain waves are doing what they're doing, resulting in behaviors that he isn't able to regulate. I was so impressed and finally felt hopeful! Also around the same time, my son was diagnosed by his doctor with something that we hoped could be helped by medications. We were able to start him on some medications at that time.
In the 6 months since that time, with the combined efforts of neurofeedback, approved medications, and therapy, I am so happy to report that my son is doing a ton better overall! He has very few "rage episodes" now (as I call them). He can manage his emotions so much quicker and easier. It's still a work in progress, but now he legitimately feels content in his life the majority of the waking hours which is something that we didn't sense from him for the last few years. He also sleeps through the night now!
One thing that has been fascinating to learn through the neurofeedback process is being able to understand how my son's brain wave activity relates directly to his thoughts, behaviors and emotions. It has taught me to recognize signs of overstimulation or understimulation. We've cut way back on technology and are providing more opportunities for his brain to receive that feeling of "achievement" that he gets from his neurofeedback sessions. The body is such a complex machine, and we have found that by helping train his emotions, his brain wave patterns, and his diagnosed behavioral issues all in appropriate ways, we now have a much more centered and content 10 year old boy! What a huge blessing Carl's expertise has given us!!

A few years ago, my life completely fell apart. I did not know it at the time, but I was suffering from severe PTSD, later to be diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Due to the intensity of my symptoms—frequent panic attacks, suicidal thoughts, self-harming, losing time, and an overall inability to function—I was unable to hold a job for 3 years and could no longer engage in the life that was in front of me. From the very first moment, Carl and his team at Evolve Neurofeedback met me with compassion and understanding. They supported me during some of the darkest times of my life. Being able to visually see the irregularities in my brainwaves on the screen, and how they directly correlated with my symptoms, was incredibly validating. For the first time, I understood that the difficulties I was facing everyday weren't because I was crazy or weak, but because the trauma I endured had profoundly impacted my brain. Treatment at Evolve Neurofeedback has changed my life. The impact neurofeedback had in stabilizing my brain is nothing short of incredible. I am now able to function at a much higher capacity, have returned to work, and am able to re-engage in my life. But most importantly, I have a renewed sense of hope. Although I still have a long journey ahead of me, I credit Carl and his team with giving me my life back. No matter your struggle, I recommend Evolve Neurofeedback to everyone. Your pain and suffering matter. There is help. You are not beyond hope.

Ever since my son was 2 years old, I knew there was something different about him, and I desperately wanted answers. After years of doctor appointments and countless medications, I was beginning to lose hope. I was exhausted from trying new medications that would work for a while and then stop.
We were referred to Dr. Weeks by Dr. Mann and scheduled a consultation. For the first time in years, my husband and I felt hopeful. We immediately began sessions with Dr. Weeks.
After just the first session, my son slept through the night and finally experienced true rest. Within two weeks, we noticed dramatic changes — including a growth spurt of over four inches, which we believe was due to the restorative sleep he was finally getting.
After about five sessions, we were able to completely wean him off his anxiety medication. It’s now been almost two years since his last session, and he remains medication-free. Today, he’s thriving — confident, healthy, and preparing to join the National Guard.
We are forever grateful to Dr. Weeks for changing our child’s life.
